The bus comes to a complete stop in Santa Elena, the sister city to San Ignacio.  They are separated by a wooden bridge large enough for one vehicle to cross suspended above the Macaw River.  Between both cities, the population is around 16,000 people.  The city looks worn and dirty compared to the countryside.  We stop in the middle of the road.  People start jumping out the back of the bus and the ticket agent with the gold fillings walks out the front of the bus.  We wait.  The bus driver ...
